Yesterday, Google announced a change to their results pages for individual name searches. If your name is searched and you have a personal Google Profile, it will be displayed at the bottom of the search results page. Go ahead, do a Google search on my name, Rachel Pastirik. Look to the bottom of the page to see a mini photo of me and a link to my profile page.

Google Profiles will not replace other social networking web sites like Facebook and LinkedIn, but it’s another highly visible place to post your information. Since so many people use Google as their main search resource we think it’s worth taking a few minutes to create a profile. It’s a good way to enhance your existing SMO (Social Marketing Optimization) efforts and control the information publicly displayed about you.

Read all about Google Profiles or sign up for yours.
